You can pick a cat up by the scruff of it's neck (the back skin just behind it's neck) and it won't hurt them. It's mom was only trying to do that. :(

lol It always looks so funny when cats pick up little kittens. My aunt has alot of kittens (New batch like every 9 weeks haha) - And one cat had her kittens up in this high place on the garage, and we put one of the kittens on the ground. The cat carried it all the way back up to its spot, and it looked funny as hell doin it!

If u guys like this, try imagine this, it happened to me and i cried:
Once there was a kitten stuck on the ground. While her family is on my neighbor`s roof. There she sat on my home`s fence wall with her mother. And a few minutes later her mom jump to the roof (there was a slope she could jump on) and meows at the kitten, probably to call her. But then the kitten tried and fall. It sat again on the pot it was sitting on. Her mother jumped back there and sit next to her.. =3
