Wow that is me, I had no idea this was on You Tube now. Yes it is true that unfortunately they do need at least one major surgery in their lifetime. Most likely it will be an adrenal surgery. There are multiple health problems ferrets can have you have to weigh what you feel are the pro's and con's of owning one. I would be happy to answer any questions. Most importantly do your homework before you get one.
I am in compete ... ( 11 months ago by Kelli2u)
I am in compete agreement with you on the hours of exercise for them and I really enjoyed reading your comments they were kind. Remember this interview lasted 2 hours and the actual footage shown is 3 mins and 30 secs. I think they did a great job editing it but there was a lot of stuff cut out. My ferrets are out about 6 hours a day and I encourage as much time out as possible. Your comments however are great on all aspects. Thank you.

I have a video on here of my ferret playing with our house cat and they are lots of fun. They can be a hassle at times and he smells like piss most of the time but i give him a bath one a week.
Oh my God, that's ... ( 11 months ago by Cl0wnCar0nFire)
Oh my God, that's AWFUL. You bathe your ferret once a WEEK!? Do you realize how horrible that is for his skin and coat? Stop doing that now! It's what makes him smell so bad anyway, the frequent baths! Please stop, it's extremely bad for them.

How often should you bathe them? Once or twice a year?
That's a new one ... ( 11 months ago by markVIIchick)
That's a new one for me too, I had two three ferrets and none of them needed any surgery whatsoever. *knocks on wood*
Only thing they ever did was catch a cold (and you can catch it from them). Besides that they are very hardy animals from my experience.
A ferret's nature ... ( 11 months ago by markVIIchick)
A ferret's nature is like a dog and a cat in one with tons of energy. You can walk it on a leash like a dog (I have, people thought it was a long squirrel), it is litter box trainable like a cat and lastly they are pumped full of energy! I mean they are happy happy happy go go go nearly all the time.
In short there is nothing exactly like a ferret. They are smart, crazy, playful and did I mention smart? I had one ferret hide anything shiny under my couch, much of it was money!

Array ( 11 months ago by smadi420)
are they stinky?
and are they expensive to take care of?
and do i realy need a cage? or can i just let it run loose in the house?
What she said was ... ( 10 months ago by TheTusss)
What she said was all good EXEPT ferrets should NOT live in cages. They need a big area to live on, just like a cat or a dog. Of course you can have a "night cage" where you can have them during the night so they won't mess around. But otherwise they should live in the rest of the house with you. If you're going away for a couple of hours you can put them in a ferretsafe room.
Anyway, otherwise really good info. :) Ferrets are lovley creatures.

not true, they just need more time outside a day, at least 3 hours
I don't like how ... ( 10 months ago by Meixafuhellzman2)
I don't like how people put this age limit on animals.. "Ferret's live 6-10 years" I know a guy with a Ferret thats 15 years old! They do this with cats to! They say usually cats only live 12-15 years, my Cat goes outside all the time, suffered a nasty neck bite that almost killed him, and he's 18 Years old!
They're suggesting ... ( 10 months ago by MakiMaki962047)
They're suggesting the average life span. Obviously, not everyone's ferret is going to live to be 15. MOST only live about 6-10 years, but there are exceptions - both for the ones who live long lives, and those who live short lives.

ok well give them a ... ( 10 months ago by RockStarcutie3)
ok well give them a bath once a month and then when needed but if you give them more bathes than once a month there skin will dry out. there about 200-300 dollars to start out with [maybe] you will want a cage to keep them in at night other than that they can spend most of there time out and about [in your house of course] BUT... BUT BUT BUT **always*** and i mean always.. keep an eye on them they can and they will get into anything. they are wonderful pets! i love my ferret...

I adopted my 3 ... ( 4 months ago by lockedupinakage)
I adopted my 3 ferrets about 9 months ago (they're 3 years old). I would NEVER trade them for anything in the whole world. They are very playful, smart and affectionate (little trouble-makers too!) They spend almost all their time outside of their cage, except at night and when nobody is home. I bathe them about once a month, they have their own scent but don't "stink". They don't even play with toys I buy them, They're happy with cardboard boxes, a few old pairs of jeans and each other <3
